You Neglecting You?

As we all know, my slogan for Total Body Burn is You vs. You. Why? Because I just want you to show up and do the work for yourself - nobody else! There's always a little peer competition occurring during the workout but essentially it comes down to you doing the BEST THAT YOU CAN DO! Go on....you say?
What happens when we don't show up to class or even exercise at all? Then it's YOU NEGLECTING YOU!
The importance of being physically and mentally active is no secret. Many love the idea of being fit yet absolutely dread the treadmill or any kind of group instruction. From having no time for it to a thousand other excuses, I’ve heard it all. However, at the end of the day, the only thing learned from all of this is the fact that there is no escape; it’s something you just have to do.

The only solution is to make exercising a part of your daily routine so that you don’t get a chance to make excuses. It’s like brushing your teeth; you don’t contemplate every morning if you feel like brushing today, or if you have the time to, you simply do it.

Just Do It!

We are starting our 3rd week of the Paleo Challenge and participants are already seeing some great results from all their hard efforts!
Changing eating/exercise habits does not happen overnight - obviously! Most diets/exercise programs don't work not because they are wrong but because people don't DO them. Make that conscious decision every day to DO the right thing and you will see results! It's like the Nike commercial that says "Just Do It"! Understand that the little steps you do every day DO make a difference!

What? Weightlifting?Why?

Hope you had a great Tuesday today! Today was a little different at the Club because we started off our workout doing Bench Press Max weight in the gym. I am going to start incorporating a little more weightlifting in our classes. Not super heavy but I want you to get a feel for real weight and to be able to test your strength. We might just do it every other week but sometimes it will be upper body or sometimes it will be legs. I'm sure all of you know how important lifting weight is towards preventing bone loss, right? Of course you do!
After all, Total Body Burn IS your TOTAL BODY BURNing up those calories and so much more! Strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, agility, speed, endurance, and power all play a role in this class we call TOTAL BODY BURN!!!

Consistency Matters!

Everyone is always looking for a "quick fix" to their weight loss/exercise goals but what matters most are the sometimes very small and simple steps you take towards eating healthy and exercising EVERY day. Results will come when you pay attention to EVERY bite you put in your mouth and EVERY step you take to be more active. We all want instant gratification and I am particularly guilty of this myself! However, patience has its rewards - you just have to HAVE patience! :) Now go out and make good choices!

Dining out on Paleo

Don't be afraid to go out to eat when following the Paleo plan! Today I went to Stonewerks with my girls and I ordered a salad with the sirloin steak! Most restaurants have balsamic vinegar/olive oil to use for dressing and I simply request no cheese or beans on my salad! Restaurants nowadays are more than happy (well, usually) to accomodate your specific requests. I always remind myself of the movie "When Harry Met Sally" when I order out. My kids are always embarassed but I get what I want! Happy eating!

Here's my first post!

Well, I finally managed to figure out how to post on my new blog! Woo hoo!
I hope all who visit this blog will become inspired to attend my Total Body Burn and Zumba classes! Those that already attend and are hooked, can just become more inspired!
